The next time you visit Southern California, why not plan a day trip to Catalina Island, where you'll find beautiful landscapes, great restaurants and island adventures galore.
Start with a morning ferry or helicopter ride to Catalina Island, then it's up to you whether you want to explore land, sea, history - or everything!
Nature lovers can take hikes through scenic vistas to see eagles, American bison and maybe even catch a glimpse of the elusive Catalina fox. How about spending a few hours on, in, or over the water? Explore the rugged Catalina coastline by kayak, take a thrilling ride on a jet ski, or scuba dive and discover the beautiful coral, plants and sea life beneath the surface. If you prefer a bird's-eye view, take a parasail ride for an exhilarating way to see it all.
Known for its picturesque vistas and for being rich with history, Bruce's Beach is the oldest park in Manhattan Beach. When you arrive at the top of this grassy hillside, you'll understand why the three-acre site is considered one of the most beautiful in the area.
Bruce's Beach will leave you wanting for nothing. At the top of the park, you can relax on park benches under shade trees while enjoying the sweeping view. At the west end of the park is an on-leash dog park where you can take your best furry friend for an afternoon romp while both of you make new friends. If you want some exercise, there's a basketball half-court in the middle of the park, and of course photography buffs will find endless photo opportunities.
