Make your hotel reservations now for this year's Int'l Surf Festival, presented by the Chambers of Commerce and Cities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Department of Beaches and Harbors.

The 2016 host city for the 55th International Surf Festival is the City of Hermosa Beach. The event promotes the four South Bay beach cities, the world’s best lifeguard service, and physical fitness for thousands of participants.  Participants range in age from 8 years old to the late 80’s.  The three signature events for the festival are the Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, and the Charley Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament.

Running and Biking in Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach! I love running and biking along the boardwalk. The setting couldn't be more perfect, you get a panoramic view of the ocean, a wonderful cross breeze and a boardwalk that is flat. The bike path is separate from the running path so that there is less congestion on days when it's crowded (weekends). Also there are benches and water stops lining the strand so that if you don't have water with you, you can easily take a break, relax and enjoy the scenery and the beautiful ocean view and sunsets.

I would definitely recommend spending a casual sunny weekend afternoon along Manhattan Beach. Great local restaurants, coffee shops and yummy eateries to ride or run to.

Don't forget, the Sea View Inn has free bicycles for all our guests!

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always fresh and thoughtfully prepared. You can order fresh oyster platters that are so fresh and delicious and out of this world. My favorite dishes are of course any fresh seafood on the menu, the crab cakes and I really enjoy the char salad. delicious. We have also tried the chowder and the shrimp poboy which was fantastic. Small place and very popular, reservations recommended! Enjoy!

Our family never misses the annual International Surf Festival that takes place July 30th thru August 2, 2015 in the City of Hermosa Beach. All South Bay beach cities, including Manhattan Beach, are involved and there are three main events, the Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Pier-to-Pier Swim, and the always competitive 6-Man Volleyball Tournament. There are many other great events, including a surfing contest, paddle-board race, bodysurfing contest, beach run, dory race, and lots of fun, creative outdoor events for the kids.events. The kids love every minute and, as a family, we always pack a lunch and ride down to the beach for a fun summer day full of activities.
