Saint Patrick's Day Saint Patrick's Day

Southern California is likely not the first place one thinks of when planning where to spend St. Patrick's Day. Nonetheless, there's plenty of exciting things to do here when the holiday comes around. Still don't know how you plan to spend March 17th? Here's just a few suggestions for things to do in Los Angeles on St. Patrick's Day:

1. Watch Hermosa Beach's 25th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade

Hermosa Beach's St. Patrick's Day parade is always a sight, and this year promises to be no exception. The parade will feature marching bands, bagpipers, floats and cars decked in green and white, and even a few animal guests from the Irish Setter's Club of Southern California. According to the official event page, the parade will begin at City Hall located on Valley Drive at around 11:00 am. It will then head west onto Pier Avenue, and end at the corner of Hermosa Avenue and 10th Street.

2. Visit the Original Farmer's Market

As you walk around the Farmer's Market on St. Patrick's Day, you can expect to hear plenty of live music. There will be a bagpiper playing around the market in addition to Irish folk bands stationed on the East and West Patios. You can also get green beer and authentic Irish cuisine at local restaurant Magee's Kitchen. These events will last the entire time the Market is open, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Although there are parking fees, admission to the events themselves is free. Check out the Farmer's Markets special events page for more information.

3. Come to the One Colorado St. Patrick's Day Celebration

If you're looking for something to do with the entire family on St. Patrick's Day, look no further. This celebration will be hosted in Pasedena's famous shopping center, One Colorado. From about 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, there will be crafts for the kids, Irish Folk Dancing lessons, and live performances of traditional Irish music. Check out One Colorado's official site for an overview of the events listed.
