Day 2 of this fabulous 4-day self-guided tour will bring you right into the heart of Hollywood. Stroll the streets of Burbank, California, and watch as the story of La La Land comes to life. Visit working sound stages and backlots of a working film studio. Then, visit several of the jazz clubs that became a central focus of this movie. The first stop brings you to the vibrant opening scene on the notorious L.A. Freeway
CENTURY FREEWAY: Los Angeles is notorious for having the worst traffic in the country. The colorful opening scene of La La Land finds traffic at a standstill. Film crews shut down the eastbound lane of Highway 105 to film this energetic dance number. To see this area, park near 11500 South Figueroa Street. Walk to the Harbor Freeway Metro Station and take the stairs to the platform. From there, you will have a great view of the infamous freeway. If you prefer to sit in traffic, bring along the La La Land soundtrack. You can sing along as you wait for cars to get moving but resist the urge to jump out and start dancing.
WARNER BROS. STUDIOS: The coffee shop that Mia works at doesn't really exist. It was a set created on the Warner Bros. Studios backlot. You can take a behind the scenes tour of the backlot and soundstage to recreate the movie magic. Located at 3400 West Riverside Drive, Burbank, CA 91522
THE SMOKEHOUSE: This is the restaurant used for Lipton's, the place where Sebastian gets fired for playing jazz instead of Christmas tunes. It is a great stop for lunch or dinner on your tour, as it is located across the street from Warner Bros. Studios. There isn't a piano in the middle of the room, but the atmosphere will bring you back to old school Hollywood. Located at 4420 W. Lakeside Drive, Burbank, CA 91505
RETRO DAIRY MART: Sebastian gets a cup of coffee at the Retro Dairy Mart. He sits, staring through the window, at the Van Beek Tapas & Tunes establishment. This is a real coffee shop, so stop by when you need a caffeine boost. Located at 4420 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505
VAN BEEK TAPAS & TUNES: The restaurant is not actually there but the building was used to represent the club. Sebastian drives by when he goes to the Retro Dairy Mart. The location is a couple buildings down and not directly across the street. Movie magic! Located at 4403 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505
CHATEAU MARMONT: This iconic hotel is synonymous with success in Hollywood. Rooms start at $450 a night. This is where Mia is seen with her new husband and child at the end of the movie, proof that she was finally a star. You may not want to pay the hefty room charge, but at least stop by for a drink at the bar and enjoy a taste of Tinseltown. Located at 8171 West Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90046
