Where can you see horses and dragons, jellies, vanishing animals and actually touch sharks all in one place, along with a host of other fascinating things? At the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, of course.
Myth and legend come to life when you see charming seahorses, pipefish and seadragons in their own natural habitat. You'll learn the real story - and the secrets - behind these captivating creatures.
What's more mysterious than comb jellies and sea jellies? These unusual animals have been likened to extraterrestrials, but they've been living in our oceans for over 500 million years. Find out how they survive without a brain, heart or lungs as you watch them dart back and forth in their ocean environment.
Ever wonder what you can do to help save endangered marine life? Vanishing Animals has interactive exhibits and showcases corals, newts, young alligators, salamanders, fish and more that are in danger of mass extinction. You'll hear stories of recoveries from extinction, see how man is endangering some species, and learn how to help become part of the solution.
Become one with the penguin world at the June Keyes Penguin Habitat, where a "crawl-in space" lets you feel like you're living in the penguin exhibit. The natural habitat of penguins is duplicated with rocky areas, a swimming pool, nesting areas and beaches so you can watch these adorable animals behaving as they would in nature.
And there's even more to discover - you can visit the Australian coastal lowlands in Lorikeet Forest, where you can feed more than 100 beautiful, brightly colored lorikeets in a 3200 square foot outdoor aviary. These striking, friendly birds will even perch on your arm or shoulder to enjoy the tasty nectar snack you offer them.
The touch pools at Shark Lagoon are home to gentle epaulette and bamboo sharks that glide through the water as you touch them. Then visit the 10,000 square foot outdoor exhibit featuring stingrays and more than 150 sharks and look straight into the eyes of sand sharks, zebra and whitetip reef sharks swimming just on the other side of a viewing window.
