The next time you visit Southern California, why not plan a day trip to Catalina Island, where you'll find beautiful landscapes, great restaurants and island adventures galore.

Start with a morning ferry or helicopter ride to Catalina Island, then it's up to you whether you want to explore land, sea, history - or everything!

Nature lovers can take hikes through scenic vistas to see eagles, American bison and maybe even catch a glimpse of the elusive Catalina fox. How about spending a few hours on, in, or over the water? Explore the rugged Catalina coastline by kayak, take a thrilling ride on a jet ski, or scuba dive and discover the beautiful coral, plants and sea life beneath the surface. If you prefer a bird's-eye view, take a parasail ride for an exhilarating way to see it all.

Back on dry land, you can take a tour of the city of Avalon on your own Segway as you visit historic sites, quaint villages and other interesting places. Thrill-seekers can take a zip line eco-tour over stunning Descanso Canyon, and to change things up a bit, make it a twilight or nighttime tour! If heights aren't your thing, try the Jeep eco-tour to see Catalina's remote outback and wildlife in their natural surroundings.

Foodies will love Tasting and Walking Tours where you can stroll through Avalon and savor tastings at some of the city's best restaurants; your guide will fill you in on the stories behind the scenery. Behind-the-Scenes tours take you into some of the island's most fascinating places, like William Wrigley, Jr.'s landmark building, then go backstage, on stage, and into dressing rooms at the movie palace, and more.

There's even more to do, like renting electric bikes, touring the heights of the East End, and viewing the island from scenic overlooks at night. Whatever you choose, Catalina is worth a visit!
