"Soulful", "highly personal" and "playful" are all words that have been used to describe the ambiance and food at Manhattan Beach Post Restaurant (also known as M.B. Post) located within a 1960's post office.

Chef and co-owner David LeFevre pulled together fifteen years of culinary experience here and abroad, at such renowned places as Charlie Trotters and Water Grill. For M.B. Post, Michelin-starred LeFevre has created a rustic menu, and offers small production wines and hand-crafted cocktails.

LeFevre refers to M.B. Post as a "Social House" where friends and family can "sample their way through the menu", sharing seasonal dishes that stand on their own merits. Both the cuisine and the atmosphere were created to be a reflection of the vibrant yet casual nature of South Bay itself. This unique concept allows guests to enjoy and explore a wider variety of tastes, textures and elements.

From breads to desserts, nothing here is ordinary. Start with bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits served with maple syrup or the fleur de sel pretzel with David's nuclear horseradish mustard. Then choose from a delightful selection of cow, goat and sheep cheeses from such places as France, Denmark, Switzerland and Vermont. Pair these with a choice of cured meats like duck prosciutto from Indiana, speck from Italy, and more.

That was just for starters. Move on to seafood and try pan roasted wild line cod with bacon butter, maitake mushrooms, and agrodolce onions or a different spin on steamed mussels with green curry, Chinese sausage, and coriander rice. Meat dishes are diverse, from BBQ Moroccan lamb belly with harissa carmelized onions and Japanese eggplant to the ultimate comfort food, chicken pot pie - the choices suit every palate and mood.

Vegetables here are so much more than just side dishes, as evidenced by pomegranate couscous with lavender feta, marcona almonds, grapefruit and mint. Or how about roasted carrots with chermoula, lime yogurt, harissa, dates and puffed bulgur? And that's just a small sampling.

LeFevre adds to the menu at whim, so new surprises are always in store for you. You can see his handwritten additions in his online menu, which also shows the date of the updated menu.
