If you've never been able to check out a bodysurfing contest now is your chance! Gillis Beach Bodysurfing Association is sponsoring the International Bodysurfing Championship on August 5th. The contest is part of this year's 56th International Surf Festival being held at Manhattan Beach. Look for the first heat of bodysurfing to start at 6:45 am on the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

This event occurs May 27-May 29 from 10 am to 6 pm. Hermosa beach offers the best of the Pacific Ocean. This is an annual festival and it is an excellent opportunity to see the local culture and what the area is truly about.
Fiesta Hermosa has been going on since 1972. Hundreds of local artists and vendors gather to celebrate the holiday and entertain visitors with ceramics, photography, handicrafts, painting, jewelry, sculpture, and performance art. There is live music featured on two stages.

Calling all community-minded runners and walkers! Mark your calendars for the Manhattan Beach 10k Run on October 1st, and join one of the very few races in the country that's completely volunteer organized.
Since 1978, proceeds from the nonprofit Manhattan Beach 10K Run have gone to support community fitness scholarships and causes. Some of the worthwhile projects the race has supported in the past include synthetic turf at the soccer field on Marine Avenue, the Mira Costa High School track, the play structure at the Live Oak Park Tot Lot and more. Around 30 volunteers donate their time throughout the year to plan and prepare for this annual event.
The annual Charlie Saikley 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament is almost here! On August 4th and 5th, 2016, plan to spend the day in the sand! The tournament takes place during the International Surf Festival, which begins August 4th and runs through the 7th. Both the volleyball tournament and the festival itself will be memorable experiences for all who join!

For those who enjoy volleyball, the Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament is the place to be. Started by Charlie Saikley in the 1970s, the tournament focuses on the basics of volleyball - with a kick. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, making this quite the sight to see. A Jr. 6-Man tournament is held to allow kids to participate and learn more about this fast-paced sport.
