Manhattan Beach and its surrounding areas are rich with everything that can make your weekend escape or luxurious vacation filled with just about anything you could wish for. Among the myriad sites, restaurants, beaches, and specialty events are some pretty awesome museums that are as diverse as they are fascinating. Here's a brief look at just three

Manhattan Beach Historical Society and Beach Cottage Museum. Take a step back in time and be enveloped in authentic Manhattan Beach history - the society's Beach Cottage Museum is an actual 1905 beach cottage, affectionately called "Little Red House". Moved from Fifteenth Street to its current location, the museum illustrates the founding and growth of Manhattan Beach through period photographs, displays, memorabilia, newspaper articles and videos.

Western Museum of Flight. Love aviation? Set aside some time to visit this museum, located at the historic "Louis Zamperini Field" in Redondo Beach. Here you can walk among a variety of aircraft including the Prototype #1 Northrop Cobra, Grumman Tomcat, and one of only three WWII Northrop Bat "Buzz Bomb" crafts remaining in the world. Then lose yourself in the museum's collection of over 300 model airplanes, take advantage of the fascinating guest speakers in the Celebrity Lecture Series, and discover so much more.

Wonder of Dinosaurs. A fun learning experience for the whole family. Immerse yourself in a herd of over 100 robotic and static dinosaurs - the largest dinosaur exhibit on the west coast! Make your way to the second level, where lots of dinosaur-themed adventures await you, including 18-hole mini-golf, a dinosaur train, a dinosaur egg carousel, robotic T-Rex rides and more. Kids between 2 and 12 will find activities designed just for them on the third floor, including inflatables.

This is just a taste of the cultural, special interest and flat-out fun museums in the Manhattan Beach area, all easily accessible from the Sea View Inn.
