If you have ever considered visiting Manhattan Beach, now is a wonderful time to stop by. One of the exciting things happening here is the South Bay Film and Music Festival Photography Exhibit and Film Screening, which takes place June 22-July 1. Most of the events take place at the Manhattan Beach Art Center, which is open Wednesday-Saturday 10 am-9 pm and 10 am-5 pm on Sunday. There are several events during this festival that you likely will not want to miss.
Windows: A Day in the South Bay
*Opening Reception: June 22, 6-8 pm
This photography exhibit features photographs taken by local students. All photos must be taken in the area and are either exterior photos or photos taken in through a window. The photographs will be showcased throughout the whole festival.
7 in 7 Student Film Screening
*June 23, 7-9 pm
Students in the South Bay were given seven days to produce a movie that is less than seven minutes long. You can view the Top Ten entries during the festival.
High School 9-1-1
*June 24 at the Joslyn Community Center from 5-8 pm
High School 9-1-1 is a documentary about the ambulance service in Darien, Connecticut, which is the only ambulance service composed entirely of high school students. At the completion of the movie, the filmmakers will be available to respond to any questions or comments.
Of course, these are just a few of the wonderful things happening at this year’s festival. Visitors to the festival can enjoy an assortment of other films. Some of them can be viewed at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. Others will be screened at the Hermosa Community Theatre.
