Now that you are in Manhattan Beach, start making a list of things to do. You can go the usual route or you can take the road less traveled. It seems that many of life's funkiest treasures are found on this particular piece of highway so don't waste any more time. Get goin'.
Dearly Departed Tours- Go on a delightfully morbid tour of Los Angeles with founder Scott Michaels. Wanna see the house where the Menendez Brothers killed their parents? How about the house where Michael Jackson died? Are you interested in La Liz Taylor's final resting place? Is Helter Skelter your cup of tea? With Scott, you'll find these things and oh so much more here. You simply cannot miss this carnival of ghastly delights.
For a real treat, sign up for the Nasty Nellie Oleson tour. Yes kids, Scott has partnered with Allison Arngrim, nasty little Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prarie, to take you on an inside tour of Hollywood, one seen through the eyes of a child actor. The tour is subject to her availability but go if you can. It even includes a Q/A session and a photo-op!
Swing by Elvis and Priscilla's former Beverly Hills pad. You can't go in but you can still feast your eyes upon the gated, 5,300 sq. foot mansion on North Hillcrest Road that was once home to The King and his queen.
Warner Bros. Studio VIP Tour- It wouldn't be logical to go to L.A. and not see a real live television/movie studio but be sure and make it a VIP tour. Fulfill this fantasy by hitting up the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank where you can see things like Central Perk, the coffee shop set from Friends, the last surviving exterior shot from Casablanca, and the set of Ellen's daytime talk show. Finish off the day with a trip to their on-site museum to bask in the gloriousness that is movie memorabilia. For more information, visit the studio online.
The Margaret Herrick Library-This building has been home to periodicals, photographs, scripts, graphic art collections, books and pamphlets concerning the industry of motion pictures since 1928. The headquarters for all things Oscar is located, of course, in Beverly Hills. Click here for more info.
