Shakespeare by the Sea is a group in the southern California area that performs plays from the Bard and runs programs, summer camps, and festivals. During the summers, they offer free performances of Shakespeare plays, always outdoors. Picnic dinners are encouraged at their shows

If you've never been able to check out a bodysurfing contest now is your chance! Gillis Beach Bodysurfing Association is sponsoring the International Bodysurfing Championship on August 5th. The contest is part of this year's 56th International Surf Festival being held at Manhattan Beach. Look for the first heat of bodysurfing to start at 6:45 am on the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

People love to swim, play and enjoy the beach. Volleyball is one of the most popular sports played on the beach and is a common site to see there. In fact, the Association of Volleyball Players (AVP) holds almost all of their events on the beach. In particular, this summer the AVP will hold an event at Hermosa Beach on July 20th - July 23rd as well as one at Manhattan Beach on August 17th - August 20th. People from all over the area and country will attend.
