Beautiful Day for a Swim

Guest enjoying a Sunny Day at the Beach, then returning to the Sea View Inn for a swim in our outside Heated Pool...

Manhattan Beach and Pier in LA County is an exposed beach break that has consistent surf. Summer offers the favoured conditions for surfing. The best wind direction is from the east. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights.

Whether you’re getting on a board for the first time or you’re a seasoned rider searching for L.A.’s best breaks, there’s something for everyone. Beginners can learn how to surf with mellow, consistent waves, while experts can head toward the big stuff. No matter what level you’re at, you’ll want to check out these legendary L.A. surfing spots and dive into surf culture USA.

One of the best beaches for winter riding, Manhattan Beach takes the cake for large surfs (and waves with fast closeouts). Expect big waves and ideal opportunities to practice your aerials.

Local College "Loyola Marymount" vs #1 Rank "Gonzaga Bulldogs"

08 February 2017 Written by Published in blog

February 9th, 2017:

The Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. WCC opponents.

Loyola Marymount picked up their 1st WCC victory of the season after losing 3 close games to St. Mary’s, BYU, and Pepperdine to kick off conference play. Loyola Marymount doesn’t do anything spectacular however, is a solid team as the Lions rank 114th in scoring defense and 101st in FG%. Gonzaga is the last remaining unbeaten team in College Basketball and has been outstanding all season as the Bulldogs rank 16th in scoring offense, 14th in FG%, and 9th in defensive FG%. Loyola Marymount has been a very competitive team this season and although Gonzaga is beating their opponents by an average of 20.5 ppg, I think the Zags might overlook the Lions just a bit with their upcoming weekend matchup against St. Mary’s. I’m taking Loyola Marymount to cover with the points.

Beautiful Day for a Bike Ride...

Sea View Inn guest enjoying our Free Bikes.

One of the most fun things to do on vacation in Southern California is bike ride. The bicycle path also known as "The Strand" starts at Will Rogers State Beach and travels through all of the South Bay beach communities: Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and 2 harbors: Marina del Rey and King Harbor at Redondo Beach. The bike path ends about 2 miles past the South end of Redondo Beach Pier in Torrance. Depending upon where you park, the distance can be as much as 40 miles round trip - a good all-day workout with terrific views!
